Sandra Osborne presents Ayrshire Petition to Parliament condemning Israeli Government's attack on the aid ships and their blockade of Gaza

Ayrshire people joined thousands throughout the UK at the weekend to protest against the Israeli Government's continued oppression of the Palestinians and in particular the blockade of Gaza. Sandra Osborne MP was joined in Ayr by local supporters of Amnesty International; Ayrshire Palestinian Forum; World Development Movement; the Labour Party and concerned individuals to collect signatures for her petition which she presented to Parliament this week.

      Sandra said

"We were able to collect hundreds of signatures over a short period of time reflecting the public anger at the way the Israeli Government continues to treat the Palestinian people. I was hugely encouraged by the numbers of young people coming forward to sign the petition and very grateful to all the local groups who turned out to help gather signatures.

I have been to Gaza and seen at first hand the suffering of the people there. It is time for a real concerted international initiative to force the Israeli Government to end the blockade and to achieve a secure and independent state of Palestine alongside a secure and independent Israel."
