MP WELCOMES MINISTERS DECISION TO GO AHEAD WITH ACADEMY AT WOODWAY PARK SCHOOL

Coventry North East MP, Bob Ainsworth has welcomed Lord Adonis’ decision to go ahead with local consultation on the Academy which will replace Woodway Park School.

Bob Ainsworth said:

“This is not just about replacing school buildings, although they are badly needed at Woodway Park School, it is about transforming secondary education.

“Although I am aware of the concerns regarding the sponsor Bob Edmiston, the main issue we have to address is underachievement in secondary education.

“I have seen that City Academies can transform school achievement and they have done so in other parts of the country. I firmly believe that an academy will do this, not only for the children who get to attend the school, but I believe neighbouring schools will improve also and therefore children who attend those schools will benefit as well”.
