MP gives his support to the CO-Gas Safety School Poster Campaign
9th July 2008
Michael Clapham MP for Barnsley West & Penistone attended a Charity CO-Gas Safety School Poster Campaign in the House of Lords on Monday. The parents of tragically lost Christi and Bobby to carbon monoxide poisoning in Corfu in 2006 have agreed to publicise the School Poster Competition which is to raise awareness of dangers of carbon monoxide poisoning and other fuel dangers from faulty heating and cooking appliances.
Mr. Clapham said: "The dangers of CO poisoning still need to be publicised. Awareness is greater but it is still being ignored by a small minority who are determined to put profits before people. I want to ensure that people are aware of this in Barnsley to prevent any of my constituents facing a tragedy of this nature.
"I want to raise awareness of this campaign by encouraging Schools in my constituency to enter the Poster Competition which is open to all 10-11 and 16-17 year olds. More details are available at www.co-gassafety.co.uk/competition.html. The competition closes on the 15th August 2008."
