MP congratulates Stockport Academy star
1 February 2010
Last week Stockport MP Ann Coffey was invited to Stockport Academy to meet some of the sixth formers, who are in the process of applying for university places for 2010.
A star amongst them is young Holly Murray from Edgeley, who recently heard that her application to the University of Cambridge has been successful. Holly has been accepted to read Natural Sciences at Trinity Hall, Cambridge, subject to her attaining top grades at A level this summer.
Stockport Academy specialises in science subjects, and this has clearly paid off, with half the students in Year 12 (first year of sixth form) taking science subjects.
Ann Coffey said: "Holly is clearly a very bright young woman, and I congratulate her most warmly on her achievement. Getting into Cambridge isn't easy – there is fierce competition from students all across the country. Holly and the other sixth formers at Stockport Academy have excellent teachers and study facilities to back them up all the way to the top. "
