Please find attached copy of an email I have sent today to the leader and CEO of my Local Borough Council.

A number of senior Councillors and members of the public have contacted me regarding this issue and I wonder if you could instruct your officers to investigate this as a matter of urgency. Democracy must be seen to operate effectively. The public and a number of councillors in Castle Point think it is not operating properly in our borough.

Could you also kindly ask one of your officers to give me a note that I might pass to Councillors explaining both the freedoms they have and the restrictions that are placed on them in respect of their ability to vote on the LDF and their contact with constituents regarding individual planning applications and the process of considering and approving the local development framework and core strategy.

It would be a kindness if you could ask your officials to respond to me within the next few days as this is a matter of urgency within Castle Point.
