    Dear John,

Ince Marshes – Environmental Park application by Peel Holdings

I have been contacted by a number of residents from the Helsby part of my constituency who are opposed to the proposals being put forward by Peel Holdings for an Environmental Park on Ince Marshes.

This proposal involves bringing in treated waste to be incinerated at a new power station which will produce heat from waste.

As it stands the DTI will be responsible for considering the plans for the power station, Ellesmere Port and Neston Borough Council will be responsible for a change of use of wet head dock to a dry head dock on the Manchester Ship Canal. Cheshire County Council will be responsible for determining the waste storage and disposal aspects of the plan and Chester City Council will be responsible for determining a railway line for the plan.

I believe it would make sense for the whole plan to be called in and determined as a single application by a public enquiry.

Can you please look into this matter and let me have your comments at the earliest opportunity.

    Yours sincerely,

    Mike Hall MP
