    In two sentences on page 26 of today’s Daily Telegraph there is reference to John claiming for a fence repair due to vandalism and mortgage interest for 2007-08.

    In response:

    · New fencing was installed both to repair existing vandalism [some panels had been completely removed] and to help prevent future vandalism. All work was fully receipted.

    · In 2007-08 mortgage interest rates rose [the interest only mortgage is a tracker linked to interest rates and is the biggest component of the second home allowance]. As usual all statements were provided to the House of Commons Fees Office.
