IMMEDIATE RELEASE FROM ERIC JOYCE MP

    17 September 2008

There are reports in the media that I plan to resign my post as PPS to The Secretary of State for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform. The fact is that I am enthusiastic about my role as aide to Rt Hon John Hutton MP and proud of what the government is achieving in this important policy area. I have spent today campaigning in Glenrothes and am convinced that with hard work and good leadership Labour’s candidate, Lindsay Roy, will become the new MP for Glenrothes. I look forward to a successful Labour conference, a resurgent Labour Party and a victory at the Glenrothes by-election, all under the leadership of Prime Minister Gordon Brown MP.
