Flooding Canvey raises Safety and Quality of Life Concerns
Local MP Dr Bob Spink is on the campaign trail, yet again, fighting for local residents. Residents are astounded that plans are being drawn up to flood part of Canvey Island.
Bob has now distributed 1000s of window posters, letters and petition sheets, by post and today Bob is on the streets giving out information, listening to Canvey people. A typical email sent to Bob and the letter sent out with the Flooding Campaign posters are given below:
Letter from Bob that went with the 8000 posters:
Dear Friends,
The Government proposes flooding 800 acres on the west of Canvey. It is wrong to sacrifice part of our Island in order to reduce flood risks for the rest of the Thames Estuary. Just for once, politicians should put Canvey first.
Flooding Canvey, massive house building plans, our access road, hazardous industrial plants and protecting our unique environment are all interlinked. I am pressing Borough and County Councillors to consider all these issues together; they affect our future safety, quality of life and property values.
Town Council Leader Dave Blackwell, who first raised this issue, our excellent Canvey Town Councillors, the press and I are all campaigning using:
- Petitions
- Street rallies
- Window posters,
- Raising it in Parliament
- Writing to as many residents as we can
- Taking a delegation to meet the Minister responsible
Please help. Display the window poster and give one to your neighbours and friends. Please also read the petition, ask people to sign it and please return it to me by 18 October.
I work hard for everyone, irrespective of their political views. So, if you have a problem, just let me know; you know I'm always here for you.
With sincere good wishes and thanks for any help you can give,
Bob
