Eric Joyce MP today urged Falkirk people to take part in November’s Will Aid campaign.

“I regularly help constituents whose Mum, Dad, wife or husband has died, leaving no Will, and I know how many problems they end up with because of family financial affairs becoming effectively frozen until the legal process is completed, which can be both lengthy and expensive. And so I was very concerned to learn that 60% of adults in Central Scotland don’t have a will.”

During November solicitors in the area who are taking part in this voluntary scheme will draw up a basic Will free of charge. In return for this service, the solicitors hope clients will choose to donate to the Will Aid charities the fee they would normally charge. The suggested donation level is: £75 for a single Will, £110 for a pair of matching or 'mirror' Wills, or £40 for a codicil to an existing will. The money raised by Will Aid will go to nine charities – Actionaid, British Red Cross, Christian Aid, Help the Aged, NSPCC, Save the Children UK, SCIAF, Sightsavers International and Trocaire (Northern Ireland).

Will Aid solicitors will be very busy during November, so it is important to act now and make an appointment for next month. So phone the hotline on 0300 0300 013, or visit www.willaid.org.uk or email enquries@willaid.org.uk today to find a convenient participating solicitor.
