Edward Garnier receives apology from Harborough Mail
Included in the Harborough Mail, Thursday 2nd July 2009
An apology
Last week we published a reader’s letter which could have been taken to mean that Edward Garnier, the MP for Harborough, had given evasive answers to questions asked of him about his expenses claims, that he had taken improper advantage of the parliamentary second home allowance and that he had done nothing to warrant the sums paid to him to run his office or pay his staff. The Harborough Mail wishes to disassociate itself from these allegations. We accept that there are expenses claims that Mr Garnier could have made but has not. We apologise to Mr Garnier for the undoubted distress and embarrassment that our publication will have caused him.
Brian Dodds,
Editor,
Harborough Mail.
