I was delighted to read in the local press that 4 of your pupils had done so well in the semi-final of the Times Spelling Bee competition coming first and 12 points ahead of the second placed team. It was also a pleasure to know that your school takes pride in correct spelling in an era when so many people think it unimportant or cannot be bothered to spell correctly. I am sure Jane Taylor, your Head of English, will have been instrumental in the team’s well deserved success but would you please pass on my congratulations to her and the team members, Sophie Gray, Liam Hughes, Peter Wisher and Charlotte Gyandoh along with my very best wishes for the final in London next month.
