Coventry Observer Article - November 2005
Dear Constituent,
This November I attend the War Memorial Park Remembrance Day Service in Coventry.
I also met with the Older Peoples Group in Coventry on the 13th of November to discuss the role and various functions MP’s carry out.
As Chair of the West Midlands Parliamentary Labour Party, I met the Regional TUC and members of the Fire Brigades Union to discuss their concerns about the reorganisation of the Fire Service in the West Midlands.
I attended the NHS Finance Opposition Debate and asked the Secretary of State for Health, Rt. Hon Patricia Hewitt, if she would sort out the £7 million deficit and 250 prospective job losses at Walsgrave Hospital.
I informed the Secretary of State that I had written to David Roberts the Chief Executive of the Walsgrave Hospital and had yet to receive a reply to my concerns. The Secretary of State responded by saying that she would ensure I did receive a reply to my letter.
On the 16th of November I was delighted to accompany the Secretary of State for Education and Skills, the Rt. Hon Ruth Kelly MP, on her visit to Frederick Birds School in Coventry South, to meet the staff and children and look over the new school wing.
Best Wishes, Jim.
