    Coventry Observer

This month I proposed questions to the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs on issues of the Israel and Palestine Middle East Peace Plan, and the Secretary of State for Defence on ongoing British involvement in Iraq after the June 30th handover of power deadline.

I introduced a 10 Minute Rule Bill on Domestic Energy Efficiency.

My primary concerns regarding Domestic Energy Efficiency relate particularly to the issue of Fuel Poverty.

Encouraging the Government to bring forward incentives to ensure councils or housing associations improve the efficiency of social housing.

The Bill aims to strengthen the Government’s Fuel Poverty Strategy that sets out policies for ending fuel poverty in vulnerable households.

I attended a Reception on Deaf Awareness this month as attending the ‘Can You Hear Me’ Conference at the Henry Fry Centre.

I am delighted that digital hearing aids have been made available in Coventry since January 2004.

I was happy to attend the AIEEN-E-MUSTAFA conference at the Coventry Muslim Centre in Coventry and discussed issues concerning the Muslim population in Coventry.

I May 7, I met with Post Office officials to discuss recent Post Office proposed branch closures in Coventry South.

In reference to the issue of Royal Mail’ mail disappearances I tabled Questions in Parliament to the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry regarding discussions the Department has had with Royal Mail and Post Watch.

    Best Wishes, Jim.
