Coventry Observer
This month I visited Northern Ireland as part of a Cross Party Delegation, to discuss and view the progress Northern Ireland is making towards normality.
Also I proposed Parliamentary Questions to Charles Clarke MP, the Secretary of State for Education and Skills asking what discussions his Department was holding to tackle the issue of learning disabilities in children.
The Secretary of State responded, the Department “regularly meets with organizations which represent learning disabled children and their families to ensure that their interests are reflected in the development of our policies.”
In addition the Secretary of State declared, “The Department will continue to work with the voluntary sector so that children with learning disabilities are provided with the services which will give them the opportunity to realize their potential.”
I attended the Coventry Youth Festival on Sunday 20 June at the Bonds Sky Dome.
I am delighted that the youth of Coventry were celebrated and recognized at the event.
I have met with Post Office officials, local constituents, Postwatch and Coventry City Councillors to discuss the outcome of recent public consultations on Post Office proposed branch closures in Coventry South.
Best Wishes, Jim.
