Blunt: “Public must continue to support Post Office Campaign”

Today Crispin Blunt joined local ward councillors at the Shelvers Hill Post Office in Tadworth for an on-site meeting with Gary Herbert, the Post Office Network Change Manager. The local representatives gave Mr Herbert a brief tour of the local area and demonstrated their concerns about the proposed closure.

Speaking directly after the meeting Crispin Blunt commented:

“I am pleased that Mr Herbert agreed to meet me and the other local representatives. I hope that this opportunity to hear our concerns and the concerns of local people will add weight to the submissions made to the public consultation.”

Mr Blunt will be attending a Public Meeting* at Tadworth Community centre on Saturday 14th June and today emphasised the need for local people to make their voice heard.  Speaking in Tadworth this afternoon Mr Blunt added:

“It is vital that as many residents as possible attend this meeting and agree to take part in the campaign to save this Post Office.  If residents are unable to attend then it is even more important that they put in writing their concerns to Mr Herbert. I am very grateful to all those residents that have already taken the time to do so.”

*The Public meeting takes place tomorrow (14/06/08) at Tadworth Community Centre, Merland Rise, Tadworth, KT20 5JG, at 11am. Crispin Blunt MP will attend with local ward councillors from the Tadworth and Walton and Preston wards along with County Councillors and the subpostmaster Mr Muttiah.
