27A Bus Service, Monday and Tuesday, Kingsley to Chester

    7 August 2009

    Mike Hall MP said:-

"I have been contacted by a number of constituents who live in Kingsley and use the 27A bus service from Kingsley to Chester and back.

"I am advised that the 27A service is used by pensioners, people with physical disabilities, partially sighted people and residents without their own transport.

"The 27A service is provided by Arrowbrook. Recently the driver of the service has informed the passengers that as of 25/08/09 this service is being withdrawn.

"Local residents have contacted Cheshire West and Chester Council who have confirmed that the service is to be withdrawn and they were advised to use bus services to Frodsham and change there for the bus to Chester.

"This route from Kingsley to Chester is virtually impossible for the more severely disabled who find the present service from Kingsley and Chester and back meets their needs. The 27A service is described by passengers as ‘a lifeline’.

"Cheshire West and Chester Council have not given Kingsley residents any advance warning of this removal of service, it appears as though no consultations have been undertaken and the alternative offered is totally unsuitable.

"Kingsley residents want the two days a week 27A service to Chester retaining and at the very least want a one day per week service.

"It is clear that rural communities like Kingsley are not well serviced by public transport. The removal of the 27A bus will isolate residents who do not have access to private transport. I have therefore urged Cheshire West and Chester Council to think again on this issue and retain the 27A bus service."
