Women's cancer mortality rates data

New figures from the Office for National Statistics reveal that women's mortality rates for cancer are higher than the European average.

Dr Caitlin Palframan, Policy Manager at Breakthrough Breast Cancer, said: "These new statistics show that despite recent improvements the UK breast cancer mortality rate still lags behind the European average.

"While we still aren’t fully sure of the reasons behind this, if we are to close the gap it is vital to continue improving awareness, screening and treatments."
