The National Federation of Builders appoints first female chair

27 June 2011

The National Federation of Builders is to appoint the first woman Chair in its 150 year history. Alison Perry, a former dental nurse and now managing director of family owned firm Triangle Builders Ltd, is set to take the reins on Tuesday 29 June in her home city of Liverpool. The Hard Days Night Hotel will form the backdrop to the swearing in ceremony, followed by an annual dinner set to be attended by hundreds of NFB members from all over the country.

In 2000 Alison & her husband Tony acquired the company from the retiring Director and have since been successful in securing numerous lucrative contracts thus sustaining their position within the industry and especially the Merseyside area. Wearing many hats within the company, Alison is familiar with all aspects of running a business and the challenges that arise on a day to day basis.

Alison Perry will set out her vision for the Federation and for the success of the construction industry in difficult economic times. She said: “I am delighted and proud to become Chair of the National Federation of Builders. I am looking to champion key policy agendas that I feel are critical to the success of both the Federation, and the sustainability of its members as employers.”

“Growth of business is crucial to any organisation – the Federation is no exception. I aim to strive to grow the Federation in order to effect change for the benefit of its members and the industry as a whole.”

“I am also proud to be part of such a remarkably flexible and resilient industry. Despite huge job losses and high levels of insolvencies, the construction industry continues to play a major part in generating economic activity. We, as a federation and as an industry, look forward to being at the forefront of efforts to move the UK to a low carbon economy.”

Alison takes on the prestigious position from outgoing Chairman John Robinson from Nottingham.
