Press Release
Prime Minister backs the 'valuable work of UK Youth Parliament'
14 February 2011
The Prime Minister, speaking at a 'PM Direct' on the Big Society, at Somerset House in London this morning paid tribute to the important work of the UK Youth Parliament in engaging young people in their communities, and confirmed his view that the charity has an important role to play in his Big Society vision.
Addressing a diverse audience which included representatives from leading organisations, including the UK Youth Parliament, and live on the BBC, the Prime Minister said "UK Youth Parliament is an excellent organisation doing valuable work".
This endorsement follows similar very supportive comments from the Prime Minister when he met recently in his constituency with Sam Hatzigeorgiou and Francesca Ingall, his own local Member and Deputy Member of the Youth Parliament.
