NFB welcomes OFT findings on competition awareness in construction sector

Evaluation of OFT enforcement in construction sector highlights improvements in behaviour
The National Federation of Builders today welcomed the OFT’s independent evaluation of its recent competition enforcement activities in the construction sector, which finds significant improvements in business behaviour.
Julia Evans, Chief Executive of the NFB, said: “The NFB worked with the OFT to develop a code of conduct that clearly communicated companies’ obligations under competition law and this has been effective in raising awareness and compliance among NFB members.”
The NFB is encouraged to see that trade associations are seen as more important sources of information than in 2008. The NFB offers a freephone legal helpline to advise members on all legal issues and the regular member seminars on legislative changes, including ones directly in relation to the subject of the OFT inquiry, have been very effective. This is borne out by the OFT’s research.
