Mobile Broadband 3G - A New Direction

25 March 2010

JANET(UK) has completed a review of its strategy around 'mobile broadband'. It is clear that the demand for mobile broadband is tightly focused on the basic services of web and email while travelling with the student population driving innovative use, particularly in the social sphere. Dissatisfaction with current 3G-based mobile broadband solutions which seldom live up to their promised performance has focussed effort on extending the availability of Wi-Fi connectivity, via eduroam, including the possibility of getting connectivity onto public transport.
