LuDun survey

20 May 2011

GMB want to check if the Council's promises of help for the 24 disabled LuDun workers to find new work is being delivered and GMB will get the facts and we hope to publish a report in due course

GMB today announced that we will undertake a survey to establish the employment status and prospects of all 24 disabled workers who have been sacked as a result of the run down of the LuDun sheltered workshop which started last month and is due to close down completely on Wednesday 25th May. Closing this workshop was part of Central Bedfordshire Councils public spending cuts. The workers were promised help to find work by the council and part of the survey will be to establish what help, if any, they have received.

Warren Kenny, GMB Senior Organiser said, "GMB will be using its close links with former LuDun employees as well their families to undertake a survey on the extent to which the Central Bedfordshire Council has delivered on its promises of finding new work for the 24 sacked, disabled workers.
