Law Society goes on tour in 'year of change'

4 April 2011

The Law Society is taking its Question Time road show on tour around England and Wales to raise awareness amongst the solicitors' profession of the opportunities and challenges in 2011 and beyond.

The Question Time format will see Law Society President Linda Lee and Chief Executive Desmond Hudson tour major cities across England and Wales, meeting solicitors and answering their questions on a range of topics, including the Law Society's new Conveyancing Quality Scheme, professional indemnity insurance and the changing regulatory framework the profession faces in 2011.

Law Society President Linda Lee says that as well as many challenges, the profession has many opportunities in the future legal services market, which the Question Time events will look to address.

"The legal sector in England and Wales will look very different in the near future to now, with much of that change taking place in 2011.

"This is a year of change for solicitors and the Question Time road shows will give our members the opportunity to find out what the Society is doing to help prepare for that change.

"The tour will be a two-way process. We want to hear solicitors' concerns and hopes for the new-look legal landscape. While we regularly engage with our members, this is an opportunity to ask us questions on topics which affect the profession."

The road shows will take place at the following cities, with more planned:

Birmingham – 14 April
Newcastle - 18 April
Leeds - 19 April
Bristol - 20 April
Cardiff - 20 April

The road show has already visited London.
