Law firms unite to tackle climate change via live webinar
15 June 2010
The challenge for law firms to cut carbon emissions to help tackle climate change has prompted the Legal Sector Alliance to host a free webinar for solicitors to learn about practical ways to achieve carbon reduction.
Hosted by the Legal Sector Alliance and the Carbon Trust Standard, the aim of the free webinar, which takes place next week, is to draw awareness to the fact that that energy use is a key contributing factor to climate change and provide guidance to law firms in how to achieve a reduction in carbon emissions.
The global on-line event is a chance for organisations and individuals to share their knowledge and unite in demonstrating they care about climate change.
The LSA and the Carbon Trust Standard have designed the webinar session for firms of all sizes, not just those who are those affected by or are advising on The CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme [CRC] - new environmental legislation introduced by the government in April. The webinar is designed for solicitors and energy managers in law firms to explain the benefit of achieving the Carbon Trust Standard and deriving Early Action benefits under the CRC.
Implementing a robust carbon strategy and communicating this to customers and stakeholders in a credible way is a key challenge for law firms. The Carbon Trust Standard is one of the most trusted and robust certifications that recognises organisations for real carbon reduction. This webinar provides an opportunity to hear from three law firms; DLA Piper, Linklaters and Keystone Law, on the Carbon Trust Standard and the value they got from going through the process. The session also helps law firms to understand more about the Carbon Trust Standard and the impacts of the CRC.
Alistair Mitchell, chief operating officer UK, Linklaters, said: "Achieving the Carbon Trust Standard demonstrates to our clients, prospective clients, our staff and in general, our market, that we are genuinely committed to reducing our greenhouse gas emissions resulting from our operations."
Date and time: 12:00 – 13:00 Tuesday 22 June, 2010
