Hat-trick! Teach First recognised as critical to improving education by all major political parties

      14 April 2010

Brett Wigdortz, commenting on Teach First's inclusion in the Labour, Conservative and Liberal Democrat election manifestos, said:

"Teach First is pleased that the value of our work seems to be one of the only points of agreement between the three main political parties. The quality of teaching and leadership in challenging schools is proven to be absolutely central to addressing the persistent attainment gap between rich and poor.

We welcome all parties continuing support for our planned expansion, whilst restating that we are committed to doing so only at a rate which allows us to maintain the quality of the graduates we work with, and the excellence of the teaching and leadership training we can offer them”

As the leading independent charity working to address educational disadvantage, we hope that such broad cross-party support for Teach First indicates that, whatever the outcome of the election, this vital issue will be a key focus for any new government."
