Comment on mayor's takeover of Tube Lines' contracts

Commenting on the takeover of Tube Lines' contracts by Transport for London, chief executive of business group London First, Baroness Jo Valentine, said:

"This acquisition represents a welcome shift from continuing public acrimony. It offers clarity and puts the onus squarely on Boris to deliver the better Tube which London businesses and commuters need.

"The upgrade of this vital infrastructure must now be prioritised and funded if London is to accommodate new growth and continue to prosper. Business will want to see the upgrades to the Northern and Piccadilly lines delivered on time and with the same efficiency that the Arbiter says Tube Lines was delivering."
