Press Release

Chance UK joins crime fighting coalition

26 January 2010

Chance UK today joined The Fear Factory coalition, a voluntary sector movement to change the way those at risk of offending are perceived and helped.

The coalition recognises how young people are viewed and treated in the criminal justice system and beyond, and how a cross-party solution is needed if we are to be successful in the fight against youth crime. As an early intervention charity, Chance UK fully supports this movement, and is delighted to be part of a wider solution.

Gracia McGrath O.B.E., Chief Executive of Chance UK, said, "Early intervention with our most vulnerable and at-risk children is the most effective approach to dealing with youth crime and its wide-reaching effects. Only by recognising the warning signs early on and doing something about them can we really change lives. It is encouraging to know that so many other organisations feel the same way, and we encourage everyone to watch the film and learn more."

Chance UK provides volunteer mentors for primary-aged children with behavioural difficulties at risk of developing anti-social and criminal behaviour across the UK.
