Advertising Association steps up regulatory affairs

Will Blomefield joins the Advertising Association (AA) this week as Regulatory Affairs Manager, he will be working with the AA’s existing public affairs team to protect and promote the industry, with a particular focus on emerging digital issues including e-privacy.

Commenting on Will’s appointment Sue Eustace said: “Will is a real asset. His knowledge of the issues driving advertising regulation and his experience in the digital field will put our members at the forefront of debate.”

Will joined the AA from law firm DLA Piper, where he worked for clients such as Tesco, Amazon and Experian on a range of policy issues and government relations across e-commerce, consumer law, and online advertising.

Speaking of his appointment, Will said: “The industry is facing huge and exciting change, particularly with regards to technological innovation in advertising. Engaging with government to ensure mutual understanding and management of its concerns is a crucial role and one I am looking forward to.”

Will is a graduate of the University of Bristol where he read Politics and Sociology. Prior to joining DLA Piper, Will spent time working for the late Senator Kennedy in Washington DC and Neil Parish in the European Parliament. He has also gained experience at The Spectator magazine and The Daily Telegraph.
