UK Skills

UK Skills is a not for profit organisation, committed to raising the profile of skills through the management and delivery of innovative high profile Awards and Competitions. Through the various projects we manage, we continue to showcase excellence, and demonstrate how exceptional performance improves individual and organisational success.

WorldSkills UK:
A framework of regional and national skill competitions, developed for young people and adults in around 70 vocational skills ranging from Bricklaying to Floristry, Engineering to Hospitality. We use these competitions as a mechanism to showcase excellence and lift standards of training and performance.

Working alongside key stakeholders within industry, we managed to engage over 4,000 people who registered to compete at a regional / national skills competition last year.

WorldSkills
A majority of our competitions lead to the international competition, WorldSkills. The UK is one of 50 member country / regions that compete in the bi-ennial competition. UK Skills manages the team entry to WorldSkills.

Team UK, comprising of 26 young people competed at the most recent WorldSkills competition, held in Calgary in 2009, coming 7th in the world bringing home 3 gold, 6 bronze medals and 14 Medallions for Excellence.

The next WorldSkills is in London, 5-8 October 2011, ExCeL, Docklands. It aims to attract over 150,000 visitors to London in what will be a global showcase for skills and young people from across the world.
