Inaugural Transport & Infrastructure Dialogue Roundtable

Transport Infrastructure and Economic Growth: Articulating and Promoting the Relationship

Wednesday 11th May 2011

The inaugural roundtable in the Transport & Infrastructure Dialogue discussed the impact which an improved transport infrastructure will have on the economy and how this can best be articulated. Key questions addressed included:

· What roles do an improved transport infrastructure and better transport networks play in recalibrating the country's economic geography?

· Does government understand the link between the national transport infrastructure and local / regional economic growth?

· What are the benefits of improved transport infrastructure to a green economy? How is the sector leading innovation in this area?

· How could a project such as High Speed 2 facilitate growth through reduced congestion and greater connectivity with conurbations?
