    The Fourth Meeting

    The fourth meeting of the Cross Party Inquiry into Childhood Leukaemia and ELF EMF took place on Wednesday 28 June.

    Dr Ian Gibson, Sandra Gidley and and Dr Howard Stoate (Chair) were present. Apologies were recived from Nick Hurd and Michael Connarty. Tony Glover, Public Affairs Manager from the Energy Networks Association and Dr John Swanson, Scientific Advisor to National Grid gave evidence to the Inquiry.

    Also in attendance were Edward Copisarow, Chantelle Roberts and Dr Adrienne Morgan (all from CHILDREN with LEUKAEMIA). There were two observers, Mike Hale (CLC ) and Jane Smith (Corporate Affairs, National Grid).

    The Inquiry noted that representatives from both the and Technology Biological Effects Policy Advisory Group on EMF and the Health Protection Agency were unable to attend the meeting but were happy to assist the Inquiry and would be prepared to give evidence at a later date.

    Tony Glover and John Swanson gave presentations and answered questions on the ENA position statement and the National Grid position statement, the research on EMFs that has been commissioned by the electricity industry and the situation in other EU countries that have taken precautionary measures against EMF exposure.
