Lord Mandelson has been named politician of the year at the Spectator/Threadneedle Parliamentarian Awards.
The business secretary was awarded the prize for having "consolidated his already powerful position" with his management of economic and political crises.
Mayor of London Boris Johnson presented the prizes as political and media movers and shakers attended the political lunch of the year, held in Claridges.
Deputy Labour leader Harriet Harman was named Parliamentarian of the Year for her success at taking on William Hague while standing in for the prime minister at question time and her work to push the Equality Bill through Parliament.
Shadow business secretary Ken Clarke won the best "newcomer" award following the former chancellor's return to frontline politics earlier this year, brought back to take on fellow returning big-hitter Lord Mandelson.
Campaigner of the Year went to actress Joanna Lumley for her success in securing residency rights for thousands of former British army Gurkhas.
Former work and pensions secretary James Purnell won Resignation of the Year, following his shock departure from the Cabinet calling on the prime minister to "to stand aside".
Spectator editor Fraser Nelson said: "Lord Mandelson has, we hate to admit, reigned supreme this year, appearing to run the entire government single-handedly.
"And, while we at The Spectator are not the most enthusiastic supporters of Harriet Harman's agenda, not even our own Rod Liddle could deny that she has powerfully advanced this agenda - not least in the form of the Equality Bill. The girl done good."
