Of the 104 members of the Labour shadow government, 40 are women and 22 are new MPs.

Of the 2010 intake who have been given a job, 10 are men and 12 are women.

Gloria de Piero, a former TV lobby journalist, is a shadow culture minister, while Catherine McKinnell has been given a big promotion - she is shadow solicitor general.

Three other stars of the new intake have been given frontbench roles.

Chi Onwurah is at business, Emma Reynolds is under Yvette Cooper at the foreign and commonwealth office and Rachel Reeves has been appointed to shadow the DWP.

Shabana Mahmood, one of three Muslim women elected in May, is to join Ed Balls' home office team.

Gemma Doyle has been appointed as a shadow defence minister, along with another new MP, Michael Dugher.

Liverpool's Luciana Berger will shadow energy and climate change, Liz Kendall has been appointed to shadow health and Margaret Curran is at DWP.

Curran has extensive experience as a minister in the Scottish government.

Tom Greatex will shadow the Scotland Office and Owen Smith will do the same job for the Wales Office.

There are three new faces at the whips office: Jonathan Reynolds, Lillian Greenwood and Graham Jones.

Chuka Umunna, the much-feted new MP for Streatham, is given the plum role of PPS to Ed Miliband, leader of the opposition.

Rushanara Ali, another new MP from an ethnic minority, is part of the new shadow international development team led by Harriet Harman.

Among the new boys, rugby coach Toby Perkins has been appointed to Andy Burnham's shadow education team.

Chris Williamson will shadow communities along with Jack Dromey, husband of deputy Labour leader Harriet Harman.

Former special adviser John Woodcock has been appointed to the shadow transport team.

Chris Leslie and Stephen Twigg, who were ministers under Blair but lost their seats in 2005, have returned to frontbench politics.

Leslie is a shadow Treasury minister and Twigg will serve under Yvette Cooper shadowing the FCO.
