It has not been a completely bad week for John McDonnell, as he came out on top of the ballot for private members bills at this morning's draw.
McDonnell withdrew from the Labour Party leadership election yesterday when it became clear he had not secured enough support, lending his vote to fellow left-wing MP Diane Abbott.
MPs interested in introducing a private member’s bill put their names forward for the ballot. The first 20 names drawn out are given priority when private members’ bills are debated.
The draw presided over by Lindsay Hoyle, a newly elected deputy speaker, gave the nod to thirteen Conservative MPs, five Labour MPs, and two Lib Dems.
The twenty lucky MPs in order are:
John McDonnell (Labour)
Robert Flello (Labour)
Chris White (Conservative)
Rebecca Harris (Conservative)
Greg Knight (Conservative)
Anna Soubry (Conservative)
Harriett Baldwin (Conservative)
David Hamilton (Labour)
Joan Walley (Labour)
Sharon Hodgson (Labour)
Adrian Sanders (Liberal Democrat)
Andrew Bridgen (Conservative)
Mark Lancaster (Conservative)
Jonathan Lord (Conservative)
Therese Coffey (Conservative)
Lorely Burt (Liberal Democrat)
Philip Hollobone (Conservative)
Nigel Adams (Conservative)
Paul Beresford (Conservative)
George Eustice (Conservative)

At least some justice, even though it could only be "gifted" by the bran tub.
