The results of the elections for the officers of the parliamentary press gallery have been announced.
There was only one candidate for chairman - George Parker, political editor of the Financial Times.
He won five nominations and will take over in 2010 from the current chairman, David Hencke of The Guardian.
The nominations for honorary secretary and honorary treasurer of the press gallery were also unopposed.
Current honorary secretary Jason Beattie from the Daily Mirror has been re-elected for 2010 and Mike Steele from Newspoint was also re-elected as honorary treasurer.
Each candidate needed a minimum of two valid nominations.
There was one invalid nomination paper for the post of chairman.
Nominations for 10 places on the press gallery committee will now open at the sitting of the House on November 23 and will close at the rising of the House on November 26.
The parliamentary press gallery committee was formed in 1881 to safeguard the interests of parliamentary reporters and political correspondents at Westminster.
The establishment of the gallery dates back to an Order of the Commons Speaker in 1803.
The number of journalists working in the press gallery each day now stands at about 170.
