Transport secretary Lord Adonis has appealed to Liberal Democrat supporters to vote Labour in marginal seats to keep the Tories out of office.
Writing in the Independent, the former Lib Dem councilor said it was vital to grasp the "fundamental Labour-Lib Dem identity of interest" to avoid a Tory government.
The transport secretary said this was best served by Lib Dem voters voting Labour in marginal seats.
