PRESS RELEASE
DAVID LAMMY MP AT SHAW TRUST IN TOTTENHAM
03 February 2003
Monday 10 March 03, national disability charity Shaw Trust welcomed David Lammy MP to its north London office at the Tottenham Green Enterprise Centre. Mr Lammy was at Shaw Trust to meet local disabled people who have registered for work with Shaw Trust Employment a specialist recruitment service for unemployed disabled people.
Darlington Eke, Shaw Trust Team Leader for north London introduced Mr Lammy to several people who have recently left disability benefits after gaining worthwhile and well paid work either through WORKSTEP or the New Deal for Disabled People programme. Darlington explains, “Shaw Trust recruitment consultants provide first class search and select services matching skilled unemployed disabled people to employers. Because we have experience of the barriers that can hold someone back from getting work we’re able to anticipate some of the issues. David’s visit today has been a great boost to our candidates who are looking for work.”
Mr Lammy adds “I know the challenges of looking for a job; these problems can be exacerbated because of extra issues like disability & ill health. I am delighted to have met constituents of mine who have received invaluable and practical help through Shaw Trust Employment and the New Deal for Disabled People.”
