Local Authority Pay Offer
26 October 2007
Local Authority craft workers have narrowly voted to accept the Local Government Employer's latest pay offer.
53% of workers who took part in a ballot voted in favour of acceptance and 47% voted to reject the offer. Craftworkers will receive an increase of 2.475% on all pay rates and pay-related allowances with effect from 1 April 2007.
Unite National Officer, John Allot, says:
“This ballot result clearly demonstrates that our members are angry and disillusioned with central government's pay policy.
“The Local Government Employers' approach to pay is unsustainable and damaging to the delivery of the services they provide and it will only lead to Local Government being an employer of last resort.
“If the current approach to pay continues into next year, Local Government Employers' could well face industrial action.”
