Andrew Holroyd, Law Society President says: "We remain disappointed that a relatively small number of solicitors have been chosen for appointment at a senior level. We remain concerned that the system remains geared towards appointing barristers without addressing some of the major obstacles against solicitor appointments. However we agree with the JAC that the requirement for fee-paid work should be relaxed and we will continue to work with the JAC to improve opportunities for solicitors to enter the judiciary"
