Thought for the Weekend...
...comes from Sinn Fein president Gerry Adams. Speaking as intense negotiations continue in a bid to save the Good Friday Agreement, he says:
"I think we have learned in this process that all of these deadlines have been put up merely to be broken.
We want to see this whole matter of sustainability and stability of the institutions met and the need for everyone to deliver on their obligations sorted out as soon as possible.
We just need to bend ourselves and others need to bend with us to make this work.
The Sinn Fein objective is to save the Good Friday Agreement. That means creating a context and that's why we are talking to the two governments and other parties.
If in the course of all of this, people decided to do something on the issue of IRA arms, that has to be met with generosity and people wholeheartedly dealing with their obligations."
