Welsh Tories slam Morgan's reign
Rhodri Morgan's four years as first minister have been marked by indecision and waste, the Welsh Conservatives have said.
Ahead of Morgan's fourth anniversary in the post, which falls next Sunday, his leadership was lambasted as "an era of missed opportunities" by the Tories.
Nick Bourne, Conservative leader in the assembly, warned that the administration was failing to deliver in key areas such as hospital waiting lists and manufacturing jobs.
“His four years in office have been marked by an inability to take the tough decisions needed to improve life for the people of Wales," said Bourne.
"His record is hardly one to crow about. The Welsh public will not be fooled by his give-away government which spends tens of millions on pet projects like the new assembly building but refuses to save the National Botanic Garden or put up a real fight for former ASW workers whose pensions have been all but wiped out.
“Rhodri Morgan claims to be a man of the people, but appears happier jetting around the world on expensive junkets, opening mini embassies at huge expense to the taxpayer, and boosting the ranks of his own grey army of bureaucrats.”
The party also published a dossier on Morgan's time in office.
It said that while the costs of the new assembly building had more than doubled, manufacturing jobs had declined and hospital waiting lists had risen.
