Top politicians to turn the tables on journalists
Andrew Marr: In the hot seat

Senior journalists will enter the lion's den later this year when they face a public grilling from top politicians.

The BBC's political editor, Andrew Marr, is set to face a grilling by the Conservative mayoral candidate, Steven Norris.

And former Northern Ireland secretary Peter Mandelson will interview the former Sunday Times editor and Daily Politics presenter, Andrew Neil.

Impersonator Rory Bremner will chair proceedings, while guests of honour will include former participants William Hague, Michael Portillo, John Sargeant and John Humphrys.

This is the fourth year for the "Turn the tables" event, organised by Cancer Research UK to raise funds for the charity.

For a fee of £100 per question, audience members will also be able to quiz the reporters after the interviews.

"'Turn the tables' is a unique opportunity to see how some of our most popular and respected interviewers react when put on the spot by MPs, who are usually the subject of their cross-questioning," said the charity's national events committee chairman, Polly Wood.

"What the MPs choose to ask is completely up to them - which always makes for a fascinating and entertaining lunch."

The event has so far raised £160,000 for cancer research.
