Reid announces full health team
John Reid has announced the final line up of his team at the Department of Health.
The health secretary will focus on NHS improvement, delivery, reform and finance as he attempts to press ahead with the foundation hospitals plan.
John Hutton stays as minister of state overseeing NHS workforce issues such as pay, performance and IT.
Rosie Winterton, the department's second minister of state, will handle issues on emergency care, adult mental health services, clinical negligence and public involvement - a key part of the foundation hospital reforms.
She will also take responsibility for diabetes services, transplants and organ donation, dentistry and pharmacy issues.
Lord Warner, the parliamentary under-secretary in the Lords, is in charge of quality and clinical governance, NICE, pharmaceutical industry issues, genetics and biotechnology, departmental agencies and research and development.
Melanie Johnson, in her role as under-secretary of state, will lead on public health issues including cancer, coronary heart disease, tobacco policy and communicable diseases.
She will also be responsible for immunisation, health inequalities, drug and alcohol misuse, and sexual health issues.
Junior minister Dr Stephen Ladyman will deal with adult social services, older peoples' services, policy on carers and long-term medical conditions.
