Israel suicide attack condemned
Downing Street has condemned the suicide bomb attack in Israel which is believed to have been carried out by a British man.
Number 10 revealed a high-level investigation involving the security services was underway to establish the identities of the dead bomber and his accomplice who have been named by the Israeli government as British citizens.
Israel has named Asif Muhammad Hanif, of London, as the man who died along with two other people in the attack on a Tel Aviv bar. Officials there also announced they were seeking Omar Khan Sharif, who is believed to be from Derby.
The official spokesman denounced the attack and sought to draw attention away from the UK's Muslim community.
"It goes without saying we totally condemn acts of terrorism of this nature," he said.
"The overwhelming majority of Muslims in this country and elsewhere would totally deplore and condemn what happened yesterday and it is important that is noted and understood."
Number 10 warned that bitter experience showed that not everyone would welcome the Middle East road map.
"What Northern Ireland has shown is that there will always be rejectionists who will seek to derail any chance of a political peaceful settlement," said the spokesman.
