A nation mourns: Timetable

The Queen Mother's funeral is to take place on Tuesday April 9. The timetable of events leading up to the burial is given below:

Tuesday April 2

The coffin was taken to Queen's Chapel at St James's Palace.

Friday April 5

Queen Elizabeth's coffin was carried in a ceremonial procession to Westminster Hall, where it will lie in state from Friday. Members of the public viewed the procession along the route from St James's Palace to Westminster Hall.

Friday April 5 - Tuesday April 9

Members of the public are paying their respects at Westminster Hall until 6.00am on Tuesday. Long queues are resulting in a wait of up to eight hours.

Sunday April 7

A service of commemoration was held at St Paul's Cathedral, led by the Very Reverend Dr John Moses.

Tuesday April 9

The Funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother will take place at 11.30am in Westminster Abbey, London.

After the funeral the coffin will then be taken to St George's Chapel, Windsor, for a private Committal Service where it will be interred beside King George VI in the King George VI Memorial Chapel.

Princess Margaret's casket will be taken from the Royal Vault, and interred in the same vault as King George VI and Queen Elizabeth.

In accordance with the Queen Mother's wishes there will be no official Memorial Service.
