Euro falls to new low as pressure mounts on bank boss
The governing council of the European Central Bank has met in Frankfurt following speculation about the future of the bank's president, Wim Duisenberg whose recent remarks led the euro to fall to an all-time low.
Controversy and currency turbulence is not the only problem facing the bank, Tuesday's euro-zone inflation figures showed that inflation is running at a six year high of 2.8 per cent. The ECB's target is two per cent.
