International development

Tony Baldry is Chair of the cross-party International Development Committee. Recent enquiries have included the food shortages in Southern Africa, climate change and sustainable development and world trade ahead of the World Trade Organisation meeting at Cancun.

Tony Baldry has conducted a number of overseas visits to highlight the humanitarian crisis, including Kabul in Afganistan, the Occupied Territories of Palestine and the Gaza Strip, Sierra Leone, and a fundraising trek across Ethiopia with the British Red Cross.

He also attended the UN Summit on sustainable Development in Johannesburg, and the World Trade Organisation trade round at Cancun, Mexico.

Tony Baldry launched the Trade Justice Movement in the House of Commons in 2002 and has helped link local schools in North Oxfordshire with schools in South Africa with Link Community Development.
