The winner of this year’s Wokingham Christmas card design competition, organised by John Redwood MP, has been announced as Connor O. S. Piper (age 8) of Winnersh Primary School. The judges described the winning entry as ‘an arresting image’, commending it as ‘a well executed design idea with a bold image and strong colours, containing hints of the traditional Christmas themes (holly sprigs, stars) in an abstract pattern’, and adding that ‘it also has suggestions of a cosmopolitan approach’.
Connor’s picture will be printed on the front of Mr Redwood’s Christmas cards, the back of which will feature the four runners up, who are (in alphabetical order): Micah Elwood (age 7) of Wescott Infants School; Siomha Harrington (age 9) of Whitenights Primary School; Harry Lauchlan (age 7) of Shinfield Infants; and Ruby Rigg (age 6) of Emmbrook Infants.
Mr Redwood said yesterday: ‘I would like to thank all who took part in the Christmas card competition. The judges’ task was not easy as there were many good entries. Well done to Connor, Micah, Siomha, Harry and Ruby, our winners. I am looking forward to seeing their work on the cards which should come back from the printers soon’.
