UKTFA PROVIDES FREE SAP SUPPORT AT PART L SEMINAR

3 April 2006

Comply without costing the earth, says UKTFA

Housebuilders, developers and their design teams will receive free advice on compliance with the new Building Regulations from accredited SAP Assessors and other technical experts at the forthcoming Part L Seminar and Clinic being organised by the UK Timber Frame Association (UKTFA) on Thursday 18 May.

Martin Milner, chairman of the UKTFA Technical Committee, says: “Housebuilders want a simple solution to compliance, and one that won’t cost the earth – in all senses of the word!  Achieving wall U-values as low as 0.25 is not a problem for timber frame construction.”

New Building Regulations for England and Wales relating to energy conservation and ventilation in new homes come into force next month.

Timber frame is increasing in popularity as a construction method because of its suitability for modern buildings, and because it can help private and public sector housebuilders and developers comply with the new regulations so easily and cost-effectively.
The Part L Seminar and Clinic will include a discussion on the tried and tested timber frame systems currently available, and will allow delegates to book a consultancy session with SAP Assessors who can then advise on real situations, including the issues arising from the regulations and how these might impact on a new home’s proposed design and specification.

Delegates will also receive a copy of the UKTFA’s new technical guidance on Part L, produced by specialists at BRE.

The Part L Seminar and Clinic is being held at the new media centre at the Donington Park race circuit, Castle Donington, Derby on Thursday 18 May, from 10.00 am – 17.00 pm.

Tickets cost £125 plus VAT, with discounts available for UKTFA member companies.

Bookings can be made by telephone (01259 272140) or download a booking form from www.timber-frame.org.uk
